Obituary for William A. Zulberti

William Arthur Zulberti
September 22, 2022
William Arthur Zulberti,93, of Solvay passed away on Thursday, September 22. Bill entered the U.S. Army between World War II and the Korean War. Having a talent for baseball, he was recruited with their baseball team.
He married Mary Spagnoletti and they both lived in Solvay for 48 years until she passed away in 1996. His career was at the New York Telephone for over 40 years. It might have been there he found his hidden talent for organizing as the President of the Pioneers - a nonprofit charitable group for those who were employees of 21 years or more.
His wife, Mary, and he loved to travel and always made travel a part of their world. Being of Tyrolean descent, he was a member of the Tyrol Club and president for 10 years. He loved to sing and was a member of the Tyrolean Choraliers. He would be most remembered for his organizing and daring to try new venues like the Square-Dancing Night at the Club which was a success as other social events. As President of the Tyrol Club, he also was the club’s softball coach. With his experience organizing, he planned bus trips to Nashville, Canada, Poconos, and Myrtle Beach. This was well before computers made event planning easier. Bill started the Worm Burners Golf Tournament in Niagara Falls Canada. The event still exists.
Later in life, he moved to Myrtle Beach where he enjoyed the sun, water, and more golf.
Survivors are his daughters, Monica Sondej, Kathryn (Michael) Grobsmith and Mary Kay (Matthew) Orioli. He has seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Calling Hours will be held Friday 10 am to 11 am at St. Marianne Cope at St. Cecilia Church 1001 Woods Road with A Mass of Cristian Burial to follow at 11 am. In honor of Bill’s love for dogs Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of CNY.
