William D. Gebhart, 72, passed away peacefully Saturday at his home with his family by his side. He was an Eastwood High School graduate of the class of 1965. Bill proudly served in the Air Force as an Airman 1C during Vietnam. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Bill had worked at Syracuse Aquarium, Prestolite, Lamson Co., Walts Record Shop and before retiring he spent 25 years working at O.C.R.R.A. He was best known for his love of music since his early teenage years. As a teen, he played drums in the band The Casuals, later in life he played in the band Golden Gate and then played drums for 35 years with The Mickey Vendetti Band. After retirement, his drumming didn’t stop. He played in a trio that entertained seniors. And as a member of the St. Stephen Choir, he periodically played drums during worship. His faith was the pillars of his existence. Through difficult times and through times of celebration, Bill’s faith was steadfast. He valued his family and the times spent with his children and grandchildren. Bill built unbreakable bonds with everyone who came across his path and they became friends for life.
