Thomas A. Garrett, 79, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Sunday with his family by his side. He was born October 2, 1943 to George King Garett and Hope (Dann) Garrett. He will always be remembered for being a great son, husband, brother, uncle and especially father. Thomas was a native and life resident of Syracuse. He graduated from Nottingham High School, served in the Air Force and worked for over 30 years at AT&T. He married the love of his life, Rita Kastler on June 20, 1970 and they were happily married for 52 years. He enjoyed summers at the family cottage on the St. Lawrence River, football on Saturdays and Sundays, SU sports of all kinds and playing solitaire on his computer. He loved his family very much. Thomas was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa and a brother, Robert. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita; two sons, Timothy and Steven; a daughter, Cherish; three sisters, Gail, Tamia, and Andrea; as well as grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be 12 to 1pm on Friday November 25 at Kings of Kings Lutheran Church, 8278 Oswego Road, Liverpool, NY with a service with military honors to follow. Contributions may be made in Thomas's honor to American Cancer Society.
