Sophie Karlik, 92, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday. Sophie was born in Scranton, PA, and has resided in Syracuse for most of her life. She will be remembered for her boundless generosity, loving heart and being a loving mother to all her children. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin, and by her son, Joe. Survivors include her children, Shirley Gooding, Mary Butchkavitz, Kathy Butchkavitz-Newell, Theresa Butchkavitz, Martin Karlik, Jr. and Susan Karlik-Pedzick, and her grandchildren. Graveside services for immediate family will be held in Fairview Memorial Park Elmhurst Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Animal Rescue or Alzheimer’s Group of one’s choice.
