Saying goodbye was difficult. She was such a bright light in my life. Always an inspiration. My life is so much better for having known and loved her. Sherry, you are home now, and you will be missed.

After years of detective work (before the Internet!) I found Sherry, my birth mom. My parents immediately welcomed her into our family. Since then we've spent many wonderful days together. We talked. We took walks. I cooked massive amounts of food for us. Sherry flew down to Maryland for my wedding. She loved my daughters and knew how to be silly with them. She was one of the most compassionate, bright and comical people I've ever been privileged to know...

I don't remember the first time I met Sherry. I was only a minute old. She had just given birth to me. Because of the circumstances we were separated. I went into a foster home and eventually was adopted. My life was good, my family was good. But there was always something missing. Part of my history was hidden away in the state of NY in closed files...
