Samuel “Sam” Campagni
October 14, 1922 - February 23, 2020
Samuel P. Campagni, age 97, passed away at home on Sunday. Born in Seneca Falls NY, Sam was a life resident of Syracuse.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia (Bucci) Campagni, by his parents, Pasquale and Elizabeth Campagni, by his brothers, Angelo Campagni, John Campagni, Michael Capozzi, Angelo Capozzi, and John Capozzi and by his sister, Theresa Zwak. Sam is survived by his children, David Campagni of Liverpool NY, Ronald (Sally) Campagni of Franklin TN, and Susan (William) Gaylor of Syracuse NY. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Sam was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 14th Armored division, 47th tank battalion as a tank gunner. He was awarded the Bronze Star during his service to our country. Following his service in WWII, Sam worked in the construction industry until his retirement.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Feb. 29th, from 2 to 4 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services with Military Honors will be at 4 pm, following calling hours.
Burial will be private in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105.
