Robert H. Murfitt, 83, of East Syracuse passed away on Tuesday. Bob was born in Syracuse to the late Henry and Grace Murfitt. He retired from General Electric after 37 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard. He found great fulfillment in helping others and will be remembered for his care, compassion and support for the Bhutanese Community. He was predeceased by his wife, Saundra in 1997 and by his sister, Joanne Verzino in 2006. Survivors include his sons, Scott (Karen) and Stephen (Laura) Murfitt; his grandchildren, Charles and Crystal; his brother, Wayne (Joyce) Murfitt and his nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 30th, from 4 to 7 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will be Saturday, 10 am at the funeral home and burial, with Military Honors, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery and a gathering will follow the services.
