Richard “Dick” K. Sherwood

Dick Sherwood, 82, longtime resident of Eastwood, passed away on Thursday. Dick was born in Tappan, NY, the only child of late Robert and Minnie Sherwood of Ilion, NY. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he suffered a debilitating injury which presented many challenges during his life. With his strong, determined and happy outlook, he was able to live a joyous and fulfilling life. He is survived by his wife, of 42 years, the former Barbara Cavallo and nephew, Ralph (Toni) Tortora and several other nephews and nieces. A calling hour will be held Monday, Aug. 23rd, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will be at 1:30 pm at the funeral home, and entombment, with Military Honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s.
