Richard W. Pikarsky
August 15, 1931 - February 5, 2021
Richard W. Pikarsky, 89, of Syracuse went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, February 5th. Richard was the last surviving child of, the late, Henry and Anna Pikarsky. His siblings were Lucille Brewster, Luella Simpson, Jean Pikarsky and Janet Sahm.
Richard proudly served in the US Air Force, and retired as a foreman, after 35 years of service, with the City of Syracuse Parks and Recreation Department. He was a lifelong communicant of Assumption Church. Richard cherished time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren. His hobbies and vast interests included Civil War History, reading, watching classic films, baseball, taking long walks, and eating seafood. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, and will be missed and never forgotten by those who knew him.
Richard was predeceased by his loving wife, of 46 years, Shirley (Roehm).
Survivors include his sons, David (Jane) Pikarsky and John (Kristen) Pikarsky; grandchildren, Paul Pikarsky, Kimberly (Jeff) Carrow, Britton Pikarsky and Madison Pikarsky, and his great-grandson, Landon Pikarsky.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 16th, from 4 to 6 pm, at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will be Wednesday at 10 am at the funeral home, and burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
