Reverend Anthony J. Keeffe, 87, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday. He was a native and life resident of Syracuse. Father Anthony was a 1951 Graduate of Assumption High School, He proudly served in the Army from 1953 – 1955 and then attended LeMoyne College and Christ the King where he began his journey to the priesthood. He was ordained on May 18,1963. Father Anthony was an Associate Pastor of various churches in the Syracuse Area from 1963- 1981. His first assignment as Pastor began at St. John Evangelist in Pulaski from 1983-1993; then, he was assigned as Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini in Lacona from 1993 –1995, Pastor of St. Anne/St Patrick in Parish/ Williamstown from 1995 –2003 before retiring in 2003. Father Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Francis J. in 1969 and Joey; his sister, Mary in 1973. Survivors include his loving sisters, Joan B. Keeffe, and Ann LaMirande; his nieces, Amy LaMirande, Peggy Megrdichian and Leann Bulner; his nephews, Mark LaMirande and Gary Lucia. Calling hours will be Thursday 9 to 10am at Saint Lucy’s Church 432 Gifford Street Syracuse, New York 13204. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following calling hours at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Spring at Unity Acres Cemetery in Orwell, New York. Contributions may be made in Father Anthony’s honor to Unity Acres 2290 County Rte 2, Orwell, N.Y 13426.
