Norma V. Thater, 96, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday. She was a graduate of Vocational High School. For 28 years, she worked in the office of Netherland Dairy/ Crowley Food Company. She was the past president of the Syracuse Turners Honorary Ladies Society, past president of the Syracuse Turners Ladies Auxiliary and member of the American Legion General Pulaski Post 1650 Ladies Auxiliary. Norma was predeceased by her husband, William J. Thater in 1977. She was also predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Dorothy Hoffman, Robert Donegan, Bernard Donegan, Helen Brown, Arlene Sutor, Betty Moss, MaryJane Kraushaar & Jeanne Sweeting. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Nortz of Saratoga Springs, New York; her three grandchildren, Edward Nortz, Jamie (Dana) Nortz and Cari Lawrence; her four great -grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm on Tuesday at the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 1604 Grant Blvd. Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12pm in St. Daniel Church 3004 Court Street Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
