Norma S. Cook, 96, of Syracuse passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at her home. She was a bright shining light in her community and at Gethsemane United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member. She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin “Fred” in 2007. Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Cook of Phoenix, N.Y; her daughter, Denise Cook of California; a granddaughter, Stacey Cook of Clay, N.Y; granddaughter Shelley and her husband, Kevin Schlie of Cicero; her great-granddaughter, Penelope Schlie, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 1604 Grant Blvd. with a service immediately following. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
