Nelon Nelson LaCount, 91, of Syracuse passed on Monday at Iroquois Rehabilitation. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII and the Korean War, he turned 16yrs. old in boot camp on Paris Island. South Carolina, then shipped out to the South Pacific Theatre, served in Marshall Islands, Kwajalein Islands, Majuro Islands, and China. Nelon was a master plumber and entrepreneur of LaCount Plumbing in Florida and Texas and was also the Master Plumber for the Johnson Space Center in Texas. He retired and returned to Syracuse in 1997. He missed plumbing after retirement and worked for BGG Plumbing. Nelon was predeceased by his parents, Ward LaCount Sr. and Grace Patrick LaCount; a sister, Elsie Bernice (LaCount) Noll. Survivors include his sons, Neil (Michelle) LaCount of Baldwinsville and Daxon (Mary Lou) LaCount of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Theresa LaCount, Odessa, Texas, a sister, Sandra Bozzuto of San Marcos, CA.; a brother, Ward “Butch” (Joanne) LaCount of Port St. Lucy, Florida; nephew, Kurt Noll of Manlius, NY; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well. A service with full military honors will be held in the Chapel on Friday 2:30 p.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse.
