Obituary for Nancy L. Colonna

Nancy L. Colonna

October 19, 1943 - October 30, 2020

Nancy L. Colonna, 77, of DeWitt, went home to our Lord and Savior on Friday, after a lengthy illness. In her final days on this earth, she was fortunate to be surrounded by the enduring love of her family and the staff of Francis House and Hospice, who became her dear friends. Nancy was born in Plymouth, PA, and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1961, and Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years in the Syracuse area, and retired from Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists. She leaves behind a cherished family, including her daughter, Jennifer (Timothy) Papa; son, Jeffrey (Carla) Colonna; grandchildren, Sydney and Kayley Papa and Olivia, Mia and Mario Colonna; beloved companion, Steve Seman; her brother, Robert Morgan and many lifelong friends, that never left her side, including her very special nursing friends, "The Trippers". Nancy treasured her friendships, and kept her friends close, making a point of never losing touch with them. She will be remembered as a lifelong caregiver, who always gave selflessly to others. Her family would like to acknowledge the nurses, caregivers, volunteers, and the Sisters at Francis House for their compassionate and loving care, which meant so much to her and the family. There will be no public services, and the family has asked that contributions be made, in Nancy’s memory, to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
