Mary Lou (Cusick) Karrat

Mary Lou Karrat, 81, of Syracuse passed away on Wednesday. She was predeceased by her husband, John Cusick. Survivors include her sons, John Cusick and Thomas Karrat; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Originally from Buffalo, Mary Lou earned her (MSW) Masters in Social Work from Syracuse University after the age of 50. She dedicated her professional life to helping children and families through her work with Catholic Charities, as a social worker for Onondaga County and the Syracuse City School District. She also managed a private practice for drug and alcoholism counseling. Mary Lou was active in supporting several causes for Women and Children’s rights. There will not be any public services.
