Mark S. Volz, 66, of Syracuse, passed away on Friday surrounded by family and friends after a valiant fight with cancer. He was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and Ohio Northern University where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Mark was employed by Carrier Corporation for 20 years followed by 19 years at IRR Supply in Liverpool, NY where he worked as a branch manager. He loved spending time with his family, watching the Yankees, SU and the Buffalo Bills. Mark was a member of the Pastimes Athletic Club where he was an avid bowler. He was known as the Mayor of Trappers II. Mark was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Bamberger Volz; he is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Jennifer Pinkel) Volz, Paige (Chesney Light) Volz; his grandson, Joseph Light; his partner, Julie Riley; her sons, Lee Lynch, Christopher(Rebecca) Riley, and Joshua (Nicole) Riley, her five grandchildren; his father, Donald (Donna) Volz ; his sister, Deb (Victor) Campfield; his nieces; Erica (John) Keating, Allison LaVerne and Kaitlyn (Matt) Ewald, Several great- nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday 4 to 7pm at The Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd, Syracuse. Funeral Services will be Tuesday 11am at the funeral home burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery, North Syracuse, N.Y. There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm at Trapper II. Mark’s family would love to have those that attend wear SU, Yankee or Buffalo Bills attire in his honor. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mark’s honor to Upstate Cancer Center.
