Marie Schotthoefer, 98, of Syracuse passed away on Monday, June 6. She was born on May 31, 1924 in East Syracuse, NY to the late Frank X. and Frances Steinberger. On November 28, 1946, she married Robert Schotthoefer. They were together for 49 years, until his death in 1995. Marie was a homemaker, who was devoted to her family. Her interests included weekly card games with the “Club Girls”, sewing, crossword puzzles, camping with her family and traveling with her daughter, Karen and her daughter-in-law, Donna. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist / Holy Trinity Church. Marie was predeceased by her husband, of 49 years, Robert; by her children, Martin and Karen and by her siblings, John, Joseph and Frank. Survivors include her sons, Bob (Marge) of Virginia Beach, VA and Kurt (Cathy) of Baldwinsville, NY; her granddaughters, Patti Walters of Grapevine, TX, Anna Schotthoefer of Pittsford, NY, Lisa Kimball of Liverpool, NY, Christine Schotthoefer of Walworth, NY and Sabrina Ogunleye of Virginia Beach, VA; her eight great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Donna DeRosa; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Steinberger and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 12th, from 2 to 4 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 pm at St. John The Baptist / Holy Trinity Church, 406 Court St., Syracuse. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
