Dr. Laura M. Martin, DO, 57, of East Syracuse, NY passed away suddenly and peacefully in her sleep on Thursday. A family practice physician, she loved helping others and was a fierce advocate for all her patients. She worked tirelessly to end the stigma surrounding addiction and those fighting it. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her children and family, sharing laughter, love and lots of food.
She is joining her beloved husband, Jack Martin (2001) and mother, Shirley McKenzie (2014). She is survived by her four children, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Samuel and Anna; her father, Daryl McKenzie; her sisters, Linda Sherman and Jill Salvatore and brother, Jeff McKenzie.
Calling hours for the public will be held Friday April 9, 2021 at Gethsemane United Methodist Church (1700 Butternut Street) from 3pm-7pm. She will be laid to rest privately by her family in an intimate ceremony.
