Obituary for Jane Ann Roehm (Barrett)

Jane Ann Roehm, 89, of Stuart, Florida and Syracuse, New York passed away suddenly while visiting her family in Dacula, Georgia. On the evening before she passed, she enjoyed a glass of wine and played Jeopardy with her children and grandchildren.
Jane was a native and life resident of Syracuse, N.Y. She was the last surviving sibling of her family. Jane was the essential invitee for a successful party. She was smart, funny and a great conversationalist. Luckily for those who knew her, she was a natural born storyteller. She found humor in every setback and had a life force of optimism and good cheer.
After her working life in Syracuse at the St. Joseph’s Federal Credit Union, Jane spent the winters in Stuart, Florida, where she joined numerous clubs and activities. Staying in shape, she and her sister, Mary Alice, walked the 4-mile round trip each week to Holy Redeemer Church in Stuart and walked the golf course on league Wednesdays. Jane was active in the Ladies Golf League and Bocce League of Monterey Yacht and Country Club, where she made her home overlooking the first tee.
Jane never failed to meet her high school friends for long afternoon lunches during her summer visits in Syracuse. Turning Stone Casino counted on her visits even though she never hit the “Stinkin’ Rich” jackpot. She is pre-deceased by her husband Richard (Dick) Roehm in 2006; her daughter-in-law, Jannie M. in 2008; her sister, Mary Alice; two brothers James and Robert.
Jane is survived by her son, Rick (Franny) of Syracuse; her daughters, Kathy of Virginia Beach, VA, Sue (Keith) of Dacula, GA, and Mary Ellen of Syracuse; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
