Isabel C. Losurdo
August 5, 1927 - December 30, 2020
Isabel C. Losurdo, 93, formerly of Liverpool, died on Wednesday, at The Centers at St. Camillus after a long illness. Isabel was a native of Syracuse, a 1945 graduate of Assumption Academy, and a former communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church.
Isabel worked in the insurance business for Glens Falls Insurance Company and for a brief time with the Onondaga County Dept. of Social Services. However, Isabel’s true passion was fashion and clothing. She would always be found sewing and designing, working with fabrics, and doing alterations. In 1960, Isabel, in partnership with two of her sisters, took a brave step and opened “Isabel’s Women’s Specialty Shop” in Eastwood. The shop remained open for 44 years when, in 2004, Isabel decided to retire from her clothing business. Throughout those challenging yet very gratifying years, Isabel made many close and long-lasting friendships and had developed a large group of dedicated happy clientele. Her primary goal was to provide unique and personal attention to everyone who walked into her shop.
Isabel’s family would especially like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at St. Camillus “D” unit who, for almost 3 years, took loving care of Isabel.

She was predeceased by her father, Frank Losurdo; by her mother, Isabel Sofia Losurdo; by two brothers, Anthony and Lawrence Losurdo, and by sisters, Josephine LaFauci, Helen Rego, Frances Gangemi, Anne Losurdo and Mary Losurdo.

Survivors include her loving nieces and nephews, David (Anne) Gangemi, Angela (Fred) Hawks, Marie (Gary) Niven, Fran (Bonnie) Losurdo, Matt (Lisa) Losurdo, Philip (Suzanne) Losurdo, Linda Losurdo, Lisa Losurdo and MaryAnne (Cy) Knopp

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Patrick’s–St Brigid’s Church, 216 Lowell Ave., on Saturday, January 9th, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
