Francis E. Wilcox, 90, of East Syracuse passed away on Sunday. Francis retired, following 35 years of service, with the Syracuse Fire Department. During his entire career he was stationed with Engine Company 18. He was also a former water meter reader with the Town of Dewitt. He was a communicate of St. Matthews Church, where he head ushered at the Saturday, 5:30 pm Mass for many years. Survivors include his wife, of 71 years, the former Jane Cummings; his sons, Gary (Paula) Wilcox of Nedrow, NY, Kevin (MaryAnn) Wilcox of Grand Blanc, MI and Brian Wilcox of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Renee Spier of Syracuse, NY, Christopher Wilcox of Liverpool, NY, Patrick Wilcox of Charlotte, NC, Daniel (Tonna) Wilcox of Grand Blanc, MI, Jason (Charlene) Wilcox of Ashburn, VA and Kimberly (Ray) Lopez of Adrian, MI, and his many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A calling hour will be held Friday, Feb. 25th, at St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates St., East Syracuse, NY 13057, from 10 to 11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Entombment will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. The family requests that you consider contributions to St. Matthew’s Church.
