Francis “Chico” Onofri, 94, passed away on July 7th at St Joseph’s Hospital. Chico was born in Oswego, NY on February 19, 1927, to parents Domenic and Mary (Vona) Onofri. He was a loving husband and father, and is survived by his wife, Mary and his children, Mark and Mary Fran, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Among his careers, he served in the US Navy during the end of WWII, was Chief plumbing inspector for Onondaga County, and owned a small business. Known for being easygoing, hardworking, extremely capable, and always active, he was there to help anyone who needed it. He loved to golf, fix things, and watch SU basketball, and believed in keeping a positive attitude and a sense of humor. He is predeceased by his parents and his five siblings, Anna, Jim, Louise, Lillian, and Vicky, all of whom he was close to. A Mass will be celebrated for him, and his sister, Louise (Onofri) Crisafulli, who died earlier this year, on Monday, July 19th, at 9:00 am at St. Daniel Church, 3004 Court St. Syracuse, NY. His family will receive friends from 8:00 to 9:00 am, prior to the Mass. He will be missed.
