Obituary for Francis Andrew "Frank" Bain Jr.
Francis “Frank” Andrew Bain Jr., 73, passed away on Tuesday in Syracuse, NY. Frank was born in Flushing, NY on November 17, 1948. He later moved to Bethesda, MD, Lindenhurst, NY, and Liverpool, NY. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, serving two tours in the Vietnam War, prior to a lifetime career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, and his brother, James Thoman. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his three beloved stepchildren, Amber Messina, Carol Messina (Stefan Drobel) and Nathan (Sadie) Messina, his brother, Thomas Bain (Gloria Samuels); his sister- in- law, Sabina Thoman, his nieces and nephew.
Frank was an exceptionally powerful and gifted athlete, once scouted by the New York Mets, but primarily a very kind, loving, and quiet man with a remarkable inner calm, who loved nothing more than enjoying his wife’s cooking while surrounded by family. Except maybe trains.
Per Francis’s request and wishes, no calling hours. Burial will be private with military honors in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
