Elizabeth M. Donnelly (Smith), 86, of Rochester, NY, passed away Friday evening, June 24th. Born in Syracuse, Elizabeth graduated from St. John The Evangelist High School, and from LeMoyne College in 1958, with a B.A. in English. She went on to complete her Masters in Elementary Education at SUNY Oswego. After marrying her husband Ed, the couple settled in Baldwinsville, NY, where Elizabeth taught First Grade in the Baldwinsville School District. She became a full-time mother with the arrival of her first child, and returned to teaching at Baldwinsville, after her three children were older. Elizabeth pursued her passion for art, and earned an Associate Degree in Art from Onondaga Community College, and taught art, along with being a substitute teacher.
Elizabeth was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F., and by her brother-in-law, Robert A. Survivors include her son, Edward Donnelly (Tom Schnorr) of Rochester, NY; two daughters, Kristen (Paul) Bisson of Sudbury, MA and Kathleen (John) Gentile of Harwinton, CT; three Bisson granddaughters, Brianna, Clara, and Hannah; one Gentile grandson, William; one Gentile granddaughter, Emma and her sister-in-law, Mary Pat Donnelly of East Aurora, NY. A calling hour will be held Wednesday, June 29th, from 10 to 11 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St., Syracuse, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.
