Douglas E. Robinson Jr. 52, of Syracuse passed suddenly on Saturday. Doug was a gentle giant, known and loved by many. From working with the children at Franklin Elementary for over 25 years, playing in the Urban Knight Punks, and giving private guitar lessons, Doug touched many lives during his life.
Anyone who remembers Doug will remember his big smile, sparkling wit, astounding capability to repeat movie and TV dialogue verbatim, and his vast knowledge on any subject you wanted to speak about. He was always the biggest person in the room. The biggest in stature, the biggest laugh, and the biggest affable spirit.
Doug will be missed by all his family and many friends, but especially by his daughter, Morgan Robinson, with whom he shared a great love of music, performing and reading. Doug’s greatest joy was being Morgan’s father.
Doug’s siblings and his companion, Barb Hempel will also miss his quick wit and undying family love. John (Annemarie)Robinson, Sarah (Gary) Robinson and Jim Robinson have shared a tight bond with Doug that can never be broken, even in death.
Doug also leaves behind his niece, Megan Robinson and his nephews, Rick and John Robinson who loved, shared and enjoyed Doug’s great love of life, his love of trips to unique places, and his music.
Doug was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Robinson and his father, Douglas Robinson.
Calling hours will be Friday 4-7pm at Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 1604 Grant Blvd. Syracuse, NY, with a service to follow. Contributions may be made in Doug’s honor to the Franklin Elementary PFO, 428 S. Alvord St. Syracuse, NY 13208.
