Donald E. Smith

Donald E. Smith, 83, of East Syracuse passed away on Saturday. Don was a well known and respected general contractor, and as one of his customer’s recalled “everybody called Don for everything, or to borrow a tool from his vast collection”. He was proud of his profession, and to have been able serve both residential and commercial customers in the area for many years. He was also a proud Veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy.
He cherished his beloved family and shared a lasting-loving bond with his wife, of 63 years, Geraldine. They were a great team, who leaned on each other during good times and bad.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he is survived by his children, Deborah Smith, Donald (Susan) Smith, Daniel (Kathleen) Smith, David (Christine) Smith and Douglas (Michele) Smith; his grandchildren, Jacob, Jeremy and Gwendolyn and his siblings, Sally (Richard) Orcutt, James (Brenda Foster) Smith and Beverly Atchison and sister-in-law, Barbara Leo and brothers-in-law, James and Ronald Leo.
Services will be private for his family and burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
