Obituary for Dolores R. Haley (Campanella)

Dolores R. Haley (Campanella)
February 10, 1946 - February 14, 2021
Dolores R. Haley, 75, of Solvay, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Sunday, February 14th. Dee was an enthusiast of travel, animals, and cooking. She was the best chef and baker in her family. She took great care in the details of her meals and the assorted cakes she would make through the years; often passing down her skills and tips. She loved to travel to different places to sample restaurants. She had a gentle compassion for creatures of all kinds and will be missed sorely by her dogs, Anastasia and Teagan. For her whole adult life, Dee worked in the restaurant industry, and most recently was employed by The Blarney Stone in Syracuse. Dee took great pride in her work ethic and always did her best in whatever venture was at hand, however, at the center of her life were her loved ones. Her children, grandchildren, and little great-grandchildren were everything to her. She put everything she could into raising her family, by teaching and loving them. Dee as a grandmother, meant always having a friend. In fact, she was known affectionately as “Gram” to friends of the family, whom she had adopted. She was fun-loving, always ready for adventure, and tolerant of any practical joke one of the grandkids played on her. She loved deeply and unconditionally, always willing to listen if you were in trouble. Her children will never forget the laughter or love Mom brought into their lives.
As we mourn this loss, we choose to keep her memory every time we work hard, love profoundly, and laugh loudly. Mom/Gram, we will miss you every day until our time comes.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved mother, Josephine Campanella in 1993.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her sister, Dianne (Donald) Daly; her daughters, Delores (William) Busch, and Angeleen Haley (Joseph Vassallo); her granddaughter, whom she had raised, Jessica (Kendra) King; her four other grandchildren, Aaron (Elizabeth) Busch, Sarah Busch (Rudy Gomez), Tarrance Vassallo (Scott Stoutenger) and Marie Vassallo; her great-grandson, Damiano Gomez, and one on the way, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A calling hour will be held Monday, March 1st from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will follow at 12:30 pm, and burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Upstate Cancer Center, and all caregivers who came in contact with Dolores during her fight. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lung Cancer Foundation of America, https://lcfamerica.org
