Charles R. “Chuck” Baker
April 14, 1944 - November 14, 2020
It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Charles R. “Chuck” Baker, announce his passing on November 14th at Francis House, at the age of 76. Chuck lived in Baldwinsville his whole life until moving to Liverpool, after his retirement from teaching. He graduated from CW Baker High School, Class of 1962, where he was a member of the 1961 Championship Basketball team. He graduated from the University at Buffalo in 1966, and attended SUNY Oswego for graduate courses. In 1967, Chuck began his teaching career at Baker High School, where he taught until his retirement in 1999. Chuck was a much admired teacher by his students and took part in many activities with them. He was a class advisor for 12 years, the yearbook advisor for 9 years, and he even had the yearbook dedicated to him once, a special honor that he was very proud of. Chuck was a coach of several sports over the years including soccer, lacrosse, tennis and softball at the high school, and basketball at St. Mary’s School, as well as Little League Baseball. In Baldwinsville, Chuck was active in St. Mary’s Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister for 17 years. He enjoyed golf and tennis but especially softball. His special love was for his family and the things they did together. Chuck was the strong center of his family, always there whenever needed with support and love. He leaves behind a million memories to light the way of his family, as they remember how blessed they are that he was in their lives. He will be forever missed. Survivors include his wife, of 54 years, Kathleen; his son, Bill; twin daughters, Mary Baker and Kristine Baker, and her fiancé, Matt Morezak; his half-sister, Marjorie; a niece, Christine Spring, and her husband, Tom Minardi, along with their children, Tessa and Jacob; his nephews, John Spring and Bill Spring, and his wife, Jennifer Castle, along with their children, Sadie and Clea; brother-in-law, Jack Spring and many special friends.
