Catherine F. Wagner,79, of Syracuse died peacefully at her home on Wednesday. She was a native and life resident of Syracuse. After graduating from St. John, the Baptist Academy, Catherine went on to receive her B.S and M.S. from Syracuse University. She spent over thirty years teaching for the Syracuse City School District, predominantly at Webster Elementary School. Catherine was a Secretary in the STA and enjoyed her membership in the Greater Syracuse Labor Council. She cherished spending summers on Daemon Point Road on Oneida Lake in Bridgeport, NY where she and her husband hosted legendary 4th of July parties for many years. Catherine truly practiced her faith, loved her family, and enjoyed her friends. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Kathryn Flavin; her husband, John in 2011.

Catherine is survived by her three children, Kit (Lee) Moore, John Paul (Kathryn) Wagner Jr., Edward (Jihye) Wagner Sr.; by her nine grandchildren, Joseph, Alexander, Thomas, John Paul III, Casey, Jessica, Edward Jr., Isabella and Benjamin; by her sister, Margaret Robinson; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist / Holy Trinity Church, 406 Court Street, Syracuse. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
