Angela Maria “Rita” Lampreda
December 25, 2022
Angela Maria “Rita” Lampreda, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of December 25, 2022, receiving her final Christmas wish to reunite with her beloved family in Heaven. Born on August 27, 1926, to Joseph and Adelina Lampreda, she was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY, and the eighth of nine children.
Rita proudly spent her 50-year career as a seamstress at the Learbury factory in Syracuse. She was a gifted craftswoman with the ability to solve any problem thrown her way. Her pastimes included cheering for the Syracuse Orange, completing 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles, and birdwatching in her backyard. Throughout her life, she was a devoted daughter, sister, (great) aunt, and godmother, serving as a mother and grandmother to her many nieces and nephews and their families. She lovingly cared for her aging family members at home well into her own golden years. Rita touched many with her generosity, selflessness, and fierce self-determination, and will be deeply missed.
Rita was predeceased by her father, Joseph, mother, Adelina, brother, Peter (Sue) Lampreda, and sisters: Antoinette (Nick) Fanizzi, Ida (Sam) Panebianco, Anita Lampreda, Angelina Lampreda, Mary (Sam) Emmi, and Josephine Lampreda. Her survivors include her sister, Julia (Frank) Loperfido, and loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins. She was laid to rest at a private ceremony in Assumption Cemetery.
